…..Ex-Edo governor praises deputy governor’s partnership with Okpebholo, urges humility, loyalty
Former Edo State Governor and Senator representing Edo North, Adams Oshiomhole, has congratulated Edo State Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa on his 46th birthday, describing him as a worthy example of the capacity of Nigerian youths to provide purposeful leadership.
Oshiomhole said Idahosa’s trajectory in public service had demonstrated that young Nigerians could make meaningful contributions to national development when entrusted with responsibility.
The former governor spoke in a congratulatory message issued by his Chief of Staff, Victor Oshioke.
He particularly praised what he described as the cordial working relationship between Idahosa and Governor Monday Okpebholo, noting that cooperation between a governor and his deputy was important to the stability and effectiveness of an administration.
According to Oshiomhole, the mutual respect between Okpebholo and Idahosa has helped create an atmosphere conducive to governance and the pursuit of the administration’s development objectives.
He said the relationship was also significant against the backdrop of political disagreements that sometimes characterise relations between governors and their deputies.
Oshiomhole said Idahosa, at 46, occupied an important position in Nigeria’s emerging generation of political leaders and should regard his accomplishments as both an opportunity and a responsibility.
“Your age and accomplishments have made you not only a political leader but also a role model to Nigerian youths who look forward to making their own contributions to national development,” he said.
The senator urged the deputy governor to remain humble, respectful and patriotic in the discharge of his duties.
He also counselled him to sustain his loyalty to the governor and remain committed to the collective interest of Edo people.
Oshiomhole said public office should ultimately be measured by its impact on the people, adding that Idahosa had an opportunity to demonstrate that younger Nigerians could combine ambition with responsibility and service.
He prayed for greater wisdom, good health and strength for the deputy governor as he continued to serve the state.
Oshiomhole, on behalf of his family and the people of Edo North Senatorial District, wished Idahosa many more years of fulfilment and impactful public service.
The former governor said the deputy governor’s progress should serve as encouragement to younger Nigerians aspiring to leadership, stressing that the country must continue to create opportunities for a new generation to demonstrate its capacity.
