SENATOR ALIMIKHENA ASCENDS THRONE, VOWS PEACE AND DEVELOPMENT
OKPEBHOLO CHARGES NEW UWANNO MONARCH TO UNITE KINGDOM, DRIVE DEVELOPMENT
Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has congratulated Senator Francis Asekhame Alimikhena on his coronation as the Okumagbe of Uwanno Kingdom, urging the new monarch to use his wealth of experience to promote peace, unity and development.
Speaking at the coronation ceremony on Saturday, Governor Okpebholo described the occasion as historic, noting that Alimikhena ascends the throne with decades of public service experience, including two terms as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The Governor urged the new monarch to approach traditional leadership with wisdom, humility and fairness, stressing that as Okumagbe, he is now the father of all and must ensure that every son and daughter of Uwanno feels carried along.
Governor Okpebholo also called on the people of Uwanno Kingdom to rally behind the new monarch, set aside their differences and work together for the common good, stressing that unity is the foundation for peace, progress and sustainable development.
Earlier, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, representing Edo North, congratulated Alimikhena and commended his contributions to the development of his people and the state. He prayed for divine wisdom and guidance as the new monarch begins his reign.
In his acceptance speech, the new Okumagbe described his coronation as a new beginning and turning point for Uwanno Kingdom. He pledged to usher in an era of peace, love and development, announcing plans to establish the Uwanno Development Fund (UDF) to mobilise resources for the growth of the kingdom.
