Ugheoke Drives Key Discussions as Ms Usoro Akpabio Lead SSDC Management to Indonesian Embassy

The South South Development Commission (SSDC) has taken another important step towards strengthening international partnerships with a strategic visit to the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Abuja.

The delegation was led by the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Usoro Offiong Akpabio, accompanied by the Executive Director, Commercial & Environmental Development, Hon. Joseph Ayegbeni Ugheoke, and other members of the Commission’s management.

At the meeting, both sides discussed areas of possible collaboration, particularly in staff training, environmental management and agriculture.

A major highlight of the engagement was the contribution of Hon. Joseph Ayegbeni Ugheoke, who spoke strongly about the need to expose SSDC staff to practical international experience and modern approaches that can be adapted to the development needs of the South-South region.

Ugheoke noted that meaningful development requires a well-trained workforce, especially in critical areas such as environmental protection, sustainable agriculture and resource management. He stressed that partnerships of this nature should go beyond formal discussions and lead to real knowledge transfer and capacity building.

The Indonesian Ambassador welcomed the Commission’s proposals and expressed readiness to explore areas of cooperation in training, technical support and knowledge exchange.

The meeting ended on a positive note, with both the SSDC and the Indonesian Embassy agreeing to deepen discussions and work towards practical areas of collaboration.

For the SSDC, the visit reflects a growing commitment to learning from global experience, while Hon. Joseph Ayegbeni Ugheoke’s strong contributions once again placed him at the centre of discussions around sustainable development, agriculture and environmental advancement in the South-South region.
