EXIT OF AN ICON: DR. PADDY EMMANUEL IYAMU MOURNS CHIEF DANIEL OSI ORBIH
It is with a heavy heart and profound sense of loss that I Dr. Paddy Emmanuel IYAMU, mourns the passing of our great leader Chief Daniel Osi Orbih, who peacefully passed on to glory on Monday, 31st August 2026.
Chief Dan Osi Orbih was a towering political leader, a statesman, and a patriot whose life was dedicated to service, unity, and the progress of Edo State and Nigeria.
Hailing from Ogbona in Etsako Central, he carried the hopes and aspirations of his people with dignity and courage. Throughout his political journey, he stood out as a bridge-builder, a strategist, and a voice of reason whose counsel was sought and respected across party lines and generations. His leadership capacity transformed many lives and inspired a generation of politicians and public servants to embrace service above self.
Until his passing, Chief Dan Orbih served meritoriously as Chairman, Board of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma [AAU] when I served as Commissioner for Education. We worked harmoniously and he was a jolly good fellow who was always happy to advance the course of the common man.
He brought his wealth of experience, administrative acumen, and commitment in the advancement of education in Edo State. His tenure left a lasting impact on the growth and stability of the university.
He was also a big brother who was a guiding angel in the actualisation of my House of Rep ambition.
The news of his demise is a monumental loss.
Fugar has lost a distinguished son.
Etsako Central has lost a visionary leader.
Edo State has lost a statesman of repute &
Nigeria has lost a patriot who believed in the unity and development of our nation.
On behalf of myself, my family, and the good people of Oredo Federal Constituency, I extend my deepest condolences to his beloved wife, Mrs. Florence Orbih, his children, the entire Orbih family, the people of Fugar, and the good people of Etsako Central.
At this moment of grief, may we find comfort in the remarkable legacy he left behind, a legacy of service, sacrifice, leadership, and unwavering commitment to our dear state.
May the Almighty God grant the soul of Late Chief Daniel Osi Orbih eternal rest, and grant the family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
Signed:
Dr Paddy Emmanuel
