Love is not a background check. Chemistry is not character. And a foreign passport is not proof of a good man.
There was a time when families investigated prospective in-laws before marriage. Today, the desperation for money, the desire to travel abroad and social pressures have made many people abandon that wisdom.
If he lives abroad, investigate properly. Is he truly single? Does he have a wife, partner or children overseas? Don’t build your future on a story you never verified.
And men, don’t assume that because you met her in church, she automatically has the character of a good Christian wife. As my pastor says, “Church is for the spiritually sick, just as a hospital is for the physically sick”
Being in church doesn’t automatically make someone trustworthy, mature or ready for marriage. The devil also goes to church.
Trust is important. Verification is wisdom!
Ask questions. Talk to people who have known them for years. Observe their character. Pray. Seek wise counsel.
Don’t marry a fantasy. Don’t marry a passport. Don’t marry an unfinished person.
Before you say “YES, I DO,” make sure you know WHO you are saying it to.💍
