A Tribute to Timothy Seghosimhe (A.K.A. Oracle)
Some people preserve wealth, while others preserve history. Timothy Seghosimhe, popularly known as Oracle, belongs to the rare class of men who have dedicated themselves to preserving the priceless heritage of their people.
Like the renowned historians Herodotus, often called the “Father of History,” Thucydides, known for his accuracy and depth, and Kenneth Dike, one of Nigeria’s foremost historians, Oracle has distinguished himself as a living repository of history. What makes him exceptional is that he does not merely recount events—he breathes life into the stories, traditions, and cultural heritage of our ancestors, ensuring they are not forgotten.
His wisdom is remarkable. With uncommon insight, patience, and clarity, he connects the past with the present, enabling younger generations to appreciate their roots and understand the values that shaped our people. His knowledge of culture, customs, traditions, family lineages, and historical events is both inspiring and invaluable.
Although his passion for history shines brightly in Udaba, his contributions extend far beyond. He has become a respected authority on the history and cultural heritage of the entire Ekperi Clan and beyond. Through his tireless efforts, many forgotten stories have been rediscovered, our identity has been strengthened, and our cultural pride has been renewed.
Oracle is indeed a treasure to our generation. His dedication reminds us that a people without knowledge of their history risk losing their identity. Because of him, our heritage remains alive, our traditions continue to inspire us, and future generations will have a solid foundation upon which to build.
