Returnee from Ivory Coast Appreciates Edo Women Affairs Ministry for Saving Her and Her Baby
A returnee from Ivory Coast, Miss Elizabeth Pius, has expressed profound gratitude to the Edo State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development for the timely intervention that ensured the safe delivery of her baby through a successful Caesarean Section.
Elizabeth, an indigene of Akwa Ibom State, visited the office of the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Eugenia Abdallah, alongside her newborn baby to personally appreciate the Ministry for the support she received during one of the most difficult periods of her life.
Narrating her ordeal, Elizabeth disclosed that she had travelled to Ivory Coast in search of greener pastures but was sent back to Lagos by her employer after discovering that she was pregnant. Left stranded and without any means of survival, she said compassionate Nigerians came to her aid and assisted her to Benin City.
According to her, upon arriving in Benin, she approached the Edo State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development and explained her predicament to the Honourable Commissioner.
She said the Ministry immediately took up her case by supporting her throughout her pregnancy and ensuring that she underwent a successful Caesarean Section and delivered a healthy baby.
Fighting back tears, Elizabeth described the intervention of the Ministry as life-saving, noting that without the support of the Commissioner and the Ministry, both she and her baby may not have survived.
“I have come back to say thank you. When I had nowhere to go and no one to help me, the Ministry accepted me as one of their own. They stood by me throughout my pregnancy and made sure I delivered safely. I will forever remain grateful to Hon. Eugenia Abdallah and the entire Ministry,” she said.
Responding, the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Eugenia Abdallah, thanked Elizabeth for returning to express her appreciation and reaffirmed the commitment of the Edo State Government under the leadership of Governor Monday Okpebholo to protecting vulnerable persons in the State
Hon. Abdallah noted that the Ministry remains committed to providing care, protection, rehabilitation, and hope to women, children, and other vulnerable members of society, stressing that every individual deserves dignity, compassion, and an opportunity to rebuild their lives.
