His tenure has been singularly focused on leveraging legislative instruments and direct community engagement to foster significant advancements in education, healthcare, economic diversification, and overall community development within his constituency and beyond.
His legislative prowess is evident in the crucial bills he has championed, aimed at establishing vital institutions within Edo State. His commitment to improving healthcare access is underscored by “A Bill for the Establishment of a Federal Medical Centre, Uluoke, Edo State” (HB. 633), which has successfully passed its second reading. This initiative promises to significantly enhance medical infrastructure and services for his constituents. Furthermore, his foresight in empowering the youth with essential technical skills is reflected in “A Bill for the Establishment of a Federal College of Technical Education, Okpella, Edo State” (HB. 912). This bill, also having passed its second reading and nearing final passage, is poised to promote self-reliance and contribute substantially to national economic growth. Beyond local impact, Hon. Beyond the initiation of bills, Hon. Dekeri has also been a vocal advocate for progress through impactful motions. In a display of empathy and responsiveness to the economic realities faced by his constituents, he moved a “Motion for Free 2023 WAEC Enrollment for Low-Income Families” in the wake of the fuel subsidy removal. Although it did not pass parliamentary debate, this motion garnered widespread praise for its relevance and compassion. Addressing immediate security concerns, he also moved a “Motion for Deployment of Security Personnel to Okpella” in response to incessant killings stemming from a clan head crisis, seeking urgent intervention to protect lives and property. Furthermore, his “Motion for Declaration of State of Emergency on Gully Erosion” for parts of Etsako East, West, and Central LGAs underscored his acute awareness of the severe environmental challenges confronting his constituency.
Hon. Dekeri’s influence extends far beyond the legislative chambers, deeply impacting his constituency through tangible development projects and empowerment initiatives. In terms of infrastructure, he has facilitated the installation of solar streetlights in over 35 communities, significantly boosting security and economic activities. Educational infrastructure has seen notable improvements with the construction of multiple classroom blocks in various locations, alongside the installation of a 500 KVA transformer in Iddo Okpella, enhancing access to reliable power. Access to clean water has been dramatically improved through the installation of over a dozen solar-powered boreholes across numerous communities.
His commitment to education is further evidenced by the distribution of school desks, the initiation of WAEC enrollment support for indigenes, and a notable program that trained and empowered 100 selected teachers with computer laptops and cash. Hon. Dekeri’s empowerment programs are diverse and far-reaching, encompassing the distribution of fertilisers to farmers, relief materials to flood victims, and musical equipment to religious centres. He has also directly supported individuals through school fees payments, training and cash support for 50 selected individuals via ITF, and financial aid to disaster survivors and families of deceased farmers. Furthermore, his efforts have led to gainful employment for hundreds through recommendation letters and the distribution of grinding machines to women, fostering economic independence. In healthcare, he has facilitated the distribution of drugs and hospital equipment to numerous healthcare centres across his constituency, bolstering medical services. Economically, notable projects include the construction of the Ibienafe market and the impactful empowerment of 32 people with N32 million across 32 wards, directly injecting capital into local economies.
In conclusion, Hon. Anamero Dekeri’s three and half years in the House of Representatives serve as a powerful testament to his unwavering dedication, strategic vision, and profound commitment to uplifting his constituency and contributing meaningfully to national development.
