PUBLIC NOTICE: CHILD FOUND WANDERING IN BENIN CITY

The Edo State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development wishes to inform the general public that a young boy, identified as Gentle Kasimu, approximately 9 years old, is currently in the safe custody of the Ministry.

Gentle was found wandering along St. Saviour Road, Benin City, on August 8, 2026, by one Don Williams Uwanna, who subsequently took him to the Police Station.

During interaction with officials of the Ministry, the child stated that he is from Taraba State and lives with a woman he identified as “Mummy Sophia.”

According to Gentle, he was returning with the woman from Ekpe Community when she asked him to take a live chicken to his sister at home to prepare while she went to purchase some other items. He said he subsequently lost his way and was unable to find his way back home.

The Ministry is therefore appealing to members of the public, particularly residents of Benin City and Taraba State, who may have useful information about Gentle’s family, relatives or guardian, to kindly assist in reuniting him with his loved ones.

Anyone with information that may help identify or locate Gentle’s family or guardian is encouraged to contact the Edo State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development or the nearest Police Station.

Gentle is currently safe and receiving care under the custody of the Ministry.

Members of the public are kindly urged to share this notice widely to facilitate his safe and speedy reunification with his family.
